Boogie Friday's Greatest Hits
Another goodie, from August 2004:
This is about as Eurotrashy as Disco music gets. French producer (Jean-Marc) Cerrone is probably up there with Giorgio Moroder as a pioneer of that throbbing electro-disco sound. I loved this when it came out in 1978 and it still sounds brilliant today - the sort of record Ladytron would give their last eyeliner pencil to make. Genetic mutation is about as unlikely a subject for a disco song as you can imagine (well, apart from something about pork pies maybe) but this track is like "The Day of The Triffids" (the book, not the movie) with a dance beat, warning the human race that it's meddling with nature will lead to us being overthrown by angry beasties and vegetables. It's all very silly but remember that this was written way back before such things as Frankenfood and cloned sheep so maybe Cerrone was just showing remarkable foresight and one day we will all meet our doom at the hands of giant mutant celery sticks. This is the full monty 12" version which clocks in at 10 minutes. Cheesy disco futurism has never sounded so good.

europtrash? its dark prophetic horror disco jenius - i'm not smelling any cheese on this baby, and the cover is scarry as hell. glad your blogging a long version (original takes up one whole side of the album, and i still don't get bored of it)
I meant "Eurotrashy" as a compliment.
I was wrong to use the "cheese" word though, it's partly because I remember being vaguely embarrassed to admit to my Jam-loving mates that I liked this at the time.
thank you you rock
always impressed!
Cerrone has written the music for a stage prouction of Clockwork Orange, currently running in Paris. The album is in the top ten on France iTunes.

I love this song. it falls into that "so bad it's good" category.
Bob Sinclar's remix of this album is superb!
