Junior Choice

The album that probably should have been called No, Thank You! as it bankrupted Factory Records, didn't sell much and got terrible reviews. My copy is still in mint condition so I guess I haven't played it a lot, I did always like this track though.

Everytime I see the album cover I can't help thinking how much drugs and alcohol went into its production. Truly a milestone. Fleetwood Mac's Rumours would have been proud...

Funny you should mention them, I'm writing a Fleetwood Mac post at the moment.

Though I think 'Tusk' was their drugs and alcohol album.

Also funny you should feature this album, because today I was reading the new Peter Hook book (Haçienda - How not to run a club), and of course this album gets mentioned briefly.

The budget must have run out before they commissioned the front cover designer.
Possibly a post for the worst album cover ever?

They probably never heard of Peter Saville or Storm Thorgerson or Hipgnosis. Lee, what music do you think these designers listen to when they are designing covers?

I know Peter Saville is a big Roxy Music / Brian Ferry fan.

I think the cover was by The Designers Republic who did all the Mondays sleeves. I like it actually, it's not meant to be beautiful or elegant but neither were the Mondays. Peter Saville would have been the wrong choice.
