Nurse, the screens!

Well, it’s been a funny old week. I went to the doctor Tuesday morning because I was having bad stomach pains and it turns out I had appendicitis so I was whisked off to the hospital where I had the offending organ taken out yesterday.

While the nurses were very nice, every time I go into the hospital these days a little part of me cries because they don’t wear these uniforms anymore.

I’m back home now feeling a little fragile but also rather pleasantly woozy from being doped up to my tits on painkillers.

Genius advert. I wish I’d worked in advertising in the 70′s.

Valerie Leon – phwoaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr. Remember her in leather from one of the Pink Panther films. That Peter Sellers was a jammy sod!

    Sounds lousy.
I had similar pains once. Went to the GP (alcoholic Scottish gipper). He slipped a middle digit up my jacksee and diagnosed immediate surgery. Got to A&E and the Consultant said it was ‘wind’.

The things some people will do to stick a finger up yer arse!

    That’s the NHS for you!

All the best for a speedy recovery, and in the meantime enjoy the painkillers. I found my stereo never sounded better than when I was recovering from surgery and “pleasantly woozy” from the same cause– there are some benefits.

And thanks for the wonderful clip of Valerie Leon. “Blood From the Mummy’s Tomb” is still a fond memory from the Revere Drive-In in the early 70′s during high school. The fact that I was paying more attention to Ms. Leon on-screen decked out in a tiny little egyptian princess outfit than my date in the car seat next to me almost broke up the relationship.

Great to see this! I live out in Spain , and was performing a show a year or two ago at an art gallery, and was preceded on stage by a scary looking woman who sang a couple of songs from the shows, quite theatrically. She was something of a presence, i can tell you, and following both her performance and mine, proceeded to follow my artist girlfriend around trying to buy a painting. The penny suddenly dropped – it was Valerie Leon! A 70′s icon, if ever there was one.
