Something for the Weekend

From back when Altered Images sounded like a Junior Choice version of Siouxsie and The Banshees and Clare Grogan won the heart of every young man in the country with a copy of the NME under the arm of his big overcoat.

I wonder if those are deliberate GG references (looking like she’s dancing to stop falling off the face of the earth, and the front-on shots of the drummer focusing). Not a bad imaginary girlfiend to have … Time to re-watch that classic.
BTW, I feel pretty good – because I actually beat you to Twin Sister by about two weeks (think they were on the BBC6 playlist). It IS a really catchy song. Posted it on my FBook page (to no response … what, do these people have no taste?).
Cheers,
geo
Gregory’s Girl is a masterpiece. I Saw it twice in the same week at the Odeon in Liverpool in 1982 on a double bill with ‘Chariots of Fire”.
I also watched it recently with my eldest daughter (17) who loved it.
I saw CG on the W7 in Crouch End a year or so ago. It made me feel kind of wistful.
‘Don’t talk to Me About Love’ is my favourite Altered Images song.
I showed my 15 yr old daughter this and she asked if the singer had ‘special needs’
F***in’ wicked choice,m8 ;)
I live in Crouch End and see Clare around town regularly. Still looks good. Did you know that Gary Kemp wrote Spandau Ballet’s ‘True’ about her? I only found out recently after reading his autobiography. The line ‘take your seaside arms’ was an in-joke about a book that she’d bought him, so that she would understand when she heard the record.
liking this a great deal – was never a big fan but this tune is a stroke of genius..and yeah, the dancing looked a bit naff but I think she was concentrating on the audience a lot of the time and moving with them.Beautiful girl..I knew a few Claire Grogans as a schoolkid..delicate little creatures with a sting in their tails!!
