And another one gone…

Christ, they’re dropping like flies at the moment, now it’s producer Martin Rushent who’s popped his clogs. In case you’re thinking “Martin who?” and wondering why the hell is a producer so important. Well, he produced all these brilliant gems.
But his biggest claim to immortality was producing The Human League’s classic album Dare and changing the sound of pop music as we knew it.

Not a bad portfolio of work at all.

I read an interesting article on how Martin Rushent produced Dare. He made that album what it was – with every sound instantly recognisable. Very economic, clever production. Love the Buzzcocks too.
Thanks for mentioning Martin Rushent’s passing.
That’s pretty horrible news that I have belatedly found out on this site – I can remember a time when I literally bought records because he was the producer. Almost nothing at that time for me could beat the League Unlimted Orchestra Hard Times/Love Action 12″ just totally awesome. He will be missed
