Back to the grind
June 27th, 2011

I’m back now, refreshed by the lovely air of Dorset (and the wind, the rain, the fog) but also a bit cream-crackered because of jetlag so I’m not sure what I’ll have for you this week unless you want me to bore you with my holiday snaps. Didn’t think so.
In the meantime here’s a storming tune by Elvis, the title of which is in no way indicative of how I felt in London (despite how much it changes) but I’ve loved this record for years and have always wanted to post it here.

From the Memphis sessions – this and Wearin’ That Loved On Look are both gems. Have you checked the buffed up remixes found here? Not overcooked at all they add some extra oomph the sixties productionHyperlink Code
This mp3 is recorded from a great old vinyl comp called “Reconsider Baby: Elvis Sings The Blues” which I don’t think is in print anymore but well worth hunting down.
Welcome back Lee, and bravo for making updating your wonderful site a priority on getting back!
Now I have some new music to enjoy on this upcoming 4th weekend, a holiday dedicated to kicking British butt clear across the pond ;-)
I used to have this album – “Reconsider Baby: Elvis Sings The Blues” – oddly enough I bought in in Ibiza when I was on my holidays. It has a storming verion of “Down in the Alley” on it…
As is so often the case, I don’t know what happened to it. I had it and then….it was gone….
