The Queen of Glastonbury

I saw a fair bit of Glastonbury on the telly in England last week (when did the wall-to-wall media coverage start? I remember when it was a, you know, alternative rock festival) and have to say that, controversial choice to headline she might have been but Beyoncé wiped the floor with both U2 and Coldplay. This is just staggeringly fantastic.

to be honest it might as well be some foul mall anywhere. i despair.

oh heavens i just watched that. i hope you were just distracted by all those thighs. that’s horrific.

Each to his own, m’dear.
Didn’t her backing singers do most of the work for her though, with all that cavorting around on the pyramid stage, Beyonce certainly looked the Cleopatra .
Glastonbury is just as alternative as ever, and there is something for everyone… I missed Beyonce, but she was sensational apparently. However, I was in the crowd for this:

She blew everyone away…
I saw that on the telly too, love her.
Agreed that both Beyonce and Janelle Monae each put on a great show. Coldplay were smug and ineffectual by comparison. Probably nothing we didn’t expect though…
Have to say I did find the wall-to-wall coverage a bit wearing this time. As ever Whiley was unbearable.
Although it’s not my cup of Complan, I certainly agree that this girl is a the top of her game and gave a very fine performance.
She seemed genuinely pleased to be there; although may have given the same impression if at Batley Variety Club.
Also came across as quite humble – for a multi millionairess who forgot to put her trousers on.
While I have no great love for Coldplay, the only time I saw them (in 2005) they managed to turn the Pyramid stage into an intimate setting, and by all accounts managed the same trick again this year. The trouble with the TV coverage of Glastonbury is that it can sometimes distort things – people kept on telling me how great Amy Winehouse was in 2008, whereas if you were actually there, you witnessed a car-crash performance of unbelievable proportions…
Coldplay were dreadfully dull and predictable (yet inexplicably fawned upon by the tweeting masses it seems), U2 surprisingly impressive in the pouring rain but Beyonce was jaw dropping in every way. With you there Lee. Devastated there was no coverage of Big Audio Dynamite though.
