I hope this ad didn’t intend to portray the rock and roll life as a glamourous one, because if it did it failed miserably.
Just the other week I was saying that boys start rock bands so they can attract more girls. I guess they can’t all be Jerry Hall.

Great stuff. Love that song. Saw Ian Hunter recently (at a Saturday gig) with his 3 piece band. Stunning.
Songs about groupies .. must be lots of them? The Jam’s ‘Butterfly Collector’ would go nicely too.

Probably my favourite Mott song

I’m not sure that any advert featuring groupies ought to have had “BJ” displayed so prominently in the bottom RH corner!

For a glimpse of the glamorous lifestyle, check out the late 60’s/early 70’s British films Groupie Girl & Permissive, the latter featuring real prog bands Forever More, Titus Groan & Comus, both decent films that seem to capture an era & worth a look. A touch sleazier than Flame featuring Slade. Jon

I actually remember that ad when I was a young muso leafing through music magazines way back when. Even then I wondered what the chilly tarts were supposed to be selling.

If Meal Ticket are a “top professional band”, I’ve certainly never heard of them.

Didn’t listen to this song for a long time. Still great stuff from years gone by.
Thank you Lee

Favourite MTH track, autobiographical and melancholic in a way that perhaps only British bands have a knack for.
