I’m feeling the deadline pressure at work again so no time to finish that long post on the life and work of Gilbert O’ Sullivan and how his single “Ooh-Wakka-Doo-Wakka-Day” reminds me of the grief I felt the day my hamster died*
So things are going to be a bit random here for a few days, dipping into my iTunes playlists for songs I like and have meant to post for a while but don’t have anything interesting to say about, with pretty pictures that may or may not have something to do with the record.
The old excuse again I’m afraid, too busy to finish any new posts. I could quit my job and blog full-time but then the wife would have to go on the game to support me and the little one which wouldn’t do really.
To keep things ticking over here’s the brilliant 1980 debut single from the wonderful Girls At Our Best, the title of which pretty much sums up how I feel about the mountain of work and the looming deadline I’m under at the moment. They only released four singles and one album before splitting up but they were all poptastic, sadly none of them are available on CD which is a shocking state of affairs.
I’m up to my eyeballs at the moment with that annoying thing called “work” so new posts will be a bit thin on the ground for the next few weeks. So, breaking with our regular programming of wistful old-fart nostalgia here’s a video by the wonderful Bat For Lashes whose album “Fur and Gold” has taken up permanent residence in my stereo lately.
Music videos usually leave me cold but this is a treat. A pretty English girl on a bike, what’s not to love?
I’m taking a short break from the blogging malarkey as I’m up to my tits in work at the moment. I should be back next week, but in the meantime here’s some videos from three blokes who all used to be in the same band (that sadly never made any records). You have to wonder how these three egos managed to all fit in the same room together.
The sentimental musings of an ageing expat in words, music, and pictures. Mp3 files are up for a limited time so drink them while they're hot.
